Adam van Koeverden Cartoon

Adam van Koeverden is an amazing Canadian sprint kayaker and has won eight world championship medals and four Olympic medals. He's also a very funny and talented writer (read his blog here) and has been an Athlete Ambassador for Right to Play since 2006 (in November, he will climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with the goal of raising $100,000 for the humanitarian organization - wowza!). The original photo was scanned from Cottage Life (which is a gorgeous magazine by the way) and was taken by Daniel Ehrenworth.

A note about the cartoon: I just finished an excellent course on illustrated materials for libraries (arguably the best course I have taken during my Masters thus far) and was inspired to try to something a little more experimental than my usually minimalist style for the background. I used a mixture of the watercolor small round tip brush, charcoal large smear tip brush and the mixer brush tool to create the look. Click on the image for a much larger size to see the details.
